Project Blink was a three-week project developed by a team of 10. Our goal was to create a dark, atmospheric universe inspired by a London ravaged by sinister forces.
We chose to create a dynamic platformer, drawing inspiration from references like Ghostrunner.

In my role as System Designer, I was responsible for developing comprehensive documentation, balancing gameplay elements, and designing the core systems that supported the game mechanics.

About My Work

A single bullet is enough to kill the player—a design choice that became one of the game's greatest strengths while significantly raising the challenge of balancing dynamism and difficulty tailored to our target audience.

To address this challenge, I developed a reliable Excel tool to estimate the difficulty of each zone based on enemy placement. Additionally, I designed a detailed questionnaire and conducted repeated playtests with external participants to gather objective feedback and refine the quality of our balancing.

The primary design intent was to deliver fast-paced movement, dynamic gameplay, and intuitive controls, inspired by titles like Ghostrunner, one of our main references.

To achieve this, I implemented abilities that seamlessly integrate combat and movement, encouraging players to strategize enemy placement while maintaining the desired rhythm. To enhance the unique feel, we introduced a grappling hook, giving players greater freedom to forge their own paths and explore creative solutions.

To See More
I created a "What's Not" document to clearly communicate my design intentions to the team, specifying which features could or could not be implemented in a clear and concise manner.

This greatly improved communication and prevented time from being wasted on repeated explanations.
